Deep Green is an Environmental Technology company, offering unique technology and services for the thermal treatment of (heavily) contaminated soil or waste. Deep Green has its own developed, patented technology, called ThermopileŠ.

Headquartered in Belgium, Deep Green strives to be a world player, partly executing de-contamination projects themselves through own operations in Belgium and France, partly by a network of partners and Local License Holders using the ThermopileŠ technology. Deep Green is a company of the Duferco Group.

In the last 25 years the leading technology for the thermal remediation of soil has been based on a two-step approach: heating and cleaning the soil in a rotary kiln, and treating the contaminated gases on a much higher temperature in an after-burner. Also Deep Green has been operating this "classical" technology, both in fixed facilities, as well as with mobile plants. We have treated more than 10 million tons in over 200 projects.

ThermopileŠ

During the last 6 years we invested our money in the development of a completely new technology, driven by the following objectives:

With ThermopileŠ we succeeded to achieve these objectives.

The technology in a nut-shell: a network of vertical pipes is put into the soil and connected to the after-burner. Hot air is rotated through the network, heating up the soil. Important: the air is NOT injected into the soil; the heating is done by conduction. This is why the system works with heterogeneous soils: no difference if it is sand or clay. The organic contaminants in the soil vaporise as a result of heating up and the polluted gases are the attracted to the network and led to the after-burner, in which destruction of the contaminants takes place. The gases are rotating in an almost closed loop through the network, enabling an efficient re-use of heat produced.

We have executed several projects, especially also in-situ projects (in the centre of Brussels). We have left the "classical" business now, to focus our company completely on ThermopileŠ, as we believe this will be the leading technology in the (nearby) future.
